The Mistress Certified Box Office Hit! Grosses P100 Million on first 5 days

In a report by The Buzz on Sunday, The Mistress had reached the P100-million mark in just 5 days of showing. The report was then confirmed by Star Cinema's Roxy Liquigan and Marketing director Marj So via Twitter.

"Thanks to all those who watched, was entertained & intrigued #TheMistress reaches its Php 100M mark today! Watch it now or watch it again...," tweeted Marj So.

It was earlier reported that The Mistress had an opening gross of P25 million breaking the record of The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin which grossed P23.6 million on first day. Vice Ganda's movie eventually became the Philippines' highest-grossing movie of all time.

Will The Mistress be able to surpass Praybeyt Benjamin's record? The said movie reached the P200-million mark in just a week before topping it all with P331.63 million in the box office.

Meanwhile, The Mistress will surely make money not only in the Philippines but also overseas as its international screening is all set for several venues across North America, the Middle East and in Europe, New Zealand and Guam (Click here for the schedule dates and venue).

Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruz (The Mistress)Star Cinema's The Mistress a Certified Box Office Hit!

Based on the figure, The Mistress can be considered as a super box office hit, beating the record set by The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin which grossed P23.9 million on its first day. Praybeyt Benjamin which stars Vice Ganda is currently the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time.

The Mistress marks the 10th anniversary of John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo as a love team. Directed by Olivia Lamasan, it also stars veteran and award-winning actors Ronaldo Valdez and Hilda Koronel.

With a story and formula that of previous hits such as No Other Woman, The Mistress is also expected to break box office records. The question is that will it be able to topple Vice Ganda's success and eventually be hailed as the Philippines' highest-grossing movie?

John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo's 'The Mistress' Movie Quotes

The Mistress Official Poster, Movie Quotes, Movie lines and Quotable QuotesStar Cinema's most-awaited movie this year, The Mistress premiered on Wednesday, September 12. Directed by Olivia Lamasan, the said movie is in celebration of John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo's 10th anniversary as a love team.

Also starring Ronaldo Valdez and Hilda Koronel, The Mistress tells a four-way love story of the benefactor (Rico), the wife (Regina), the lover (JD) and the mistress (Sari). In the film, Bea is a wardrobe mistress, that is a master cutter (aside from being a man's mistress). Ronaldo Valdez is her benefactor while John Lloyd is her lover. The wife is played by Hilda Koronel.

Below are some of the movie quotes and lines from The Mistress. Watch the film to know more about the characters who said these quotable quotes but somehow, by just reading these lines, you'll have an idea on who gets to say them.

Spoiler alert: If you're planning to watch the film, don't read further because some lines will spoil the story and interconnection among the characters.
"Sari. Finally. Isang linggo ko rin pinag-isipan ang pangalan mo. Gusto mong magkape? Kasi ako, gusto kong magkape kasama ka."
"Have I told you how much I hate Thursdays?"
"It's Thursday. It's the day of the week that hurts me... He is with her every Thursday, every fuckin' Thursday fuckin' her."
"Alam mo kung ano ang kaya kong gawin na hindi kaya ng Mr. Thursday mo. Kaya kitang pakasalan. Sa akin, wala kang kahati."
"Sa akin. Marami kang kahati."
"Tapusin mo na para hindi ka masaktan."
"I can't. When I married him, for better or for worse... I love him."
"He keeps on doing that to you because you keep on forgiving him."
"I live to disappoint you, father. It's my greatest joy."
"I didn't raise you to turn your back on me when I need you most... You ungrateful, boy."
"So the next time you call her a whore, I'm going to hurt you so bad so you can't say those words again. Ever."
"This my dear is your gift to me. Don't worry, mas mura pa 'to kesa balak mong iwan sa kabit mo."
You're a mistress."
"Ha?"
"Mistress. Wardrobe mistress. Yan yung tawag sa mga babaeng master cutter."
"As long as I am alive, you will never be promoted to wife."
"JD, hindi ako puta."
"Ang daming dahilan para hindi kita mahalin. Pero may isang dahilan para 'di ko magawa yun. Mahal kita. Yun lang yun."
"Yes, I am Mrs. Torres, the wife and the mother of the two men willing to kill each other for this bitch."
"Layuan mo ang asawa ko. Tagalog na yan para maintindihan mo."
One of the most dramatic confrontation scenes from the movie trailer:
JD: Do you love me?
Sari: Oo, pero
JD: Sari
Sari: Hindi ko iiwan si Rico
JD: Bakit hindi mo siya maiwan?
Sari: Umalis ka na
JD: Is it the money?
JD: Kundi pera ano? Sex?
Sari: Kung oo. Titigilan mo na ba ako?
JD: No! Because I bet you. I'm a damn better lover.
Sari: Tama na!
JD: You enjoy being some old man’s dirty little secret ganoon ba?
Sari: Walang babaeng pinangarap maging kabit.
JD: Then get out.
Sari: Mahal ko siya.

Bea Alonzo and Ronaldo Valdez Have Love Scenes in 'The Mistress'

Posted on August 20, 2012 | 9:56 PM

Star Cinema offers another controversial love story with the upcoming movie The Mistress starring Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruz in celebration of their 10th anniversary as a love team.

In this movie, Bea Alonzo will be at her bravest and most daring role yet. Playing the title role as the mistress named Sari, the movie required Bea to have kissing and love scenes with an older man (Rico) played by veteran actor Ronaldo Valdez.

Bea Alonzo and Ronaldo Valdez have kissing scenes and love scenes in The Mistress
Ronaldo Valdez, 64, who once played Bea Alonzo's father in the hit remake I Love Betty La Fea, revealed that he and Bea will have love scenes in the movie.

“Nung mabasa ko ‘yung script at malaman ko ‘yung role ko bilang si Rico ang mature benefactor ni Sari (Bea), na-excite ako kaya pumayag agad ako. Kinilig ako kasi it’s a love story of two people na nagkataon ‘yung isa younger at ‘yung isa older tapos at nagkataon din na meron nang pamilya si Rico.”

According to the highly-acclaimed actor, the movie is a great challenge for him since it's not only a typical father that he is portraying but Bea Alonzo's lover and John Lloyd's rival. He also added that he tried to be at ease with Bea.

“Dahil baka mailang siya I tried my best to be ease with her. Ayokong isipin niya na nagte-take advantage ako. Well its work, but then again syempre kailangan ng preparations lalo na at may love scenes.”

Meanwhile, John Lloyd Cruz will be playing JD, Sari's suitor. In the movie, Bea and John Lloyd's paths will cross in an unexpected circumstance, that is when Sari is already committed to a married man, Rico (Ronaldo Valdez).

Aside from Bea, John Lloyd and Ronaldo, The Mistress also stars multi-awarded actress Hilda Koronel who will play Regina, Rico's understanding wife. This will be Ms. Hilda's first movie after six years in hiatus and the reason she said yes to the project is not just that she loved the script the first time she had read it.

“It’s a perfect project–it’s from Star Cinema, I have direk Olive, and I’m working with John Lloyd, Bea, and Ronald. When you have all these people, you just can’t say no!”

Under the direction of acclaimed director Olivia Lamasan, The Mistress will hit Philippine theaters this September 12, 2012.

'The Mistress' Starring John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo Opens September 12

Posted on August 18, 2012 | 2:27 PM

In celebration of their 10th anniversary as a love team, Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruz topbill the Star Cinema's latest mature film offering, The Mistress which will open in Philippines theaters this September 12.

A braver and fiercer Bea Alonzo will surprise us in The Mistress set as her reunion movie with original tandem John Lloyd Cruz. According to Bea, The Mistress is one grand celebration of a decade of her team up with Lloydie.

The Mistress (Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruz) poster
“Nakakatuwa kasi ang layo na ng narating nung relasyon namin bilang magkatrabaho. Isang dekada na. Honestly, bawat project ay iniisip namin baka last na, kagaya ng ‘One More Chance’ at ‘Miss You Like Crazy,’ pero hindi. Kaya sobra po talaga ang pasasalamat namin sa mga naniwala at sumusuporta sa amin sa loob ng 10 taon,” shared Bea.

“Hanggang ngayon, napapatulala pa rin ako kung pano niya dinideliver ang roles niya, he’s such a good actor. Everytime na magkatrabaho kami ni Lloydi parang may sense of familiarity ka yet it’s always refreshing kasi palagi siyang may binibigay na bago, ‘yung talagang mapapasabi ka ng ‘uy bago yun ah,” added Bea.

In their ten years as a love team, The Mistress can be considered as their 'bravest' film. Bea Alonzo said that in this film, she went out of her comfort zone and did things she had never done in a teleserye or movie.

“Seriously, kinakabahan talaga ako hanggang ngayon. Nagdalawang isip ako noong una kung kaya ko siyang gawin kasi nasanay na ako sa comfort zone ko na ano ako yung regular na mabait na character. By far, ito pinakamatapang na movie ko dahil marami akong ginawa dito na never ko pa nagawa sa teleserye man o pelikula. Mahirap siya, feeling ko aatakehin ako sa puso kada eksena,” explained Bea.

Under the direction of  Olivia Lamasan, The Mistress is a beautiful ‘imperfect love story’ which tackles infidelity. It is about the not so ordinary love between Sari Alfonso (Bea) and JD Torres (John Lloyd) whose roads crossed unexpectedly, and whose love grows at the wrong time. “What will you do if the only woman  you love is already somebody's property?”

Also starring Ronaldo Valdez, Minnie Aguilar, Clarence Delgado and Ms. Hilda Koronel, The Mistress is showing September 12 in theaters nationwide.
