Posted on March 12, 2013 | 11:13 AM

Andi Eigenmann will be starring in a new teleserye titled Galema, the actress' mother, Jaclyn Jose confirmed over the weekend during the 29th PMPC Star Awards held at the AFP Theater in Quezon City.

Andi Eigenmann is Galema, Anak ni Zuma

Andi, who shot to stardom after portraying the twins Agua Bendita in the ABS-CBN TV series remake of Rod Santiago's classic komiks character, will again give life to another komiks classic. Galema, the daughter of Zuma, is  known for having a two-headed snake wrapped around her shoulders.

Anak ni Zuma, penned by Jim Fernandez was serialized by Aliwan Komiks from 1976 to 1984, making it one of the longest running series in Philippine komiks.  A movie version of the komiks characters was made in 1985, with Snooky Serna playing Galema and Max Laurel as the evil Zuma (who also had two-headed snake in his shoulders).

According to Jaclyn Jose, Andi will start filming for Galema this April. The fantasy series will be directed by box office director, Wenn V. Deramas who is also known in doing successful fantaseryes like Marina, Kampanerang Kuba and Dyosa.

Andi Eigenmann was last seen on primetime TV in the recently concluded Kahit Puso'y Masugatan, also directed by Deramas, where she starred with Iza Calzado, Jake Cuenca and Gabby Concepcion.

Yen Santos is Rodeo Queen in MMK this May 26

Posted on May 22, 2012 | 3:04 PM

Maalala Mo Kaya makes history this Saturday (May 26) as it becomes the first-ever program on television to showcase the beauty of the true 'rodeo capital' of the Philippines, Masbate.

Featuring the life story of first 'rodeo queen' Gemma Layson, to be portrayed by Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition 3 ex-housemate Yen Santos, MMK’s 'rodeo' episode will showcase the breathtaking sceneries of the province and its colorful ingenious traditions, including the grand competition of cowboys nationwide, 'Rodeo MasbateƱo.'

In the story, Gemma aspired for nothing but to finish her studies and give her family a better life. But aside from poverty, Gemma had a difficult time in achieving her dream because of her father who did not want to send her to school.

With the lack of support, she decided to compete in 'Rodeo MasbateƱo' and become one of its cowgirls. Gemma did not mind the danger of being a cowgirl, because aside from her financial needs, being a cowgirl gave Gemma the happiness that she could not find with her father.

Together with Yen in the MMK episode are Akiko Solon, Snooky Serna, and Juan Rodrigo. It was researched by Akeem Jordan del Rosario, written by Benson Logronio, and directed by Nuel Naval.

Don’t miss another remarkable TV masterpiece this Saturday in the longest running drama anthology of Asia, Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK), after Wansapanataym on ABS-CBN. For more updates, log on to www.mmk.abs-cbn.com, follow MMKOfficial on Twitter, and “like” www.faceboook.com/MMKOfficial.
